Writing With Power & Purpose Grades K–1, 2–3 and 4–5
Persuasive Essay Grades 6–8
This workshop will focus on real-world writing—practical or persuasive in purpose and intended for a
specific audience. This is an excellent genre for students to immerse themselves in as they are already involved with and surrounded by real-world
writing at home, at school, and everywhere they go. This workshop introduces and celebrates many of the different types of functional writing from
our daily lives, such as letters and cards, lists and recipes, maps and signs, schedules and invitations, and condolences and thank-you notes.
